Sand, silt, rust and grit are common in Central Valley water, especially on private wells and in older parts of town. That sediment clogs faucet aerators, showerheads and appliance screens, wears out valves, and leaves a gritty film behind.
A whole-home sediment filter catches it before it reaches your plumbing. It keeps fixtures and appliances flowing freely and helps protect any other treatment equipment you have, like a softener or carbon filter, from getting fouled.

Two Ways to Filter Out Sediment
Big Blue cartridge filters. A cost-effective, simple way to catch sand, silt and rust for the whole home. We typically fit it with a 5-micron sediment cartridge. When the cartridge fills up, you swap in a fresh one and you are back to full flow.
Whole-home backwashing sediment systems. Our most thorough option. A media tank traps sediment from every gallon and rinses itself clean automatically, so there are no cartridges to buy or change.
