Lead in Drinking Water: Test First, Then Treat
Lead in tap water usually comes from plumbing and fixtures inside the home, not from the city treatment plant. The useful next step is not fear; it is a clear test and a practical plan for drinking and cooking water.

Liquid Solutions Inc helps Central Valley families sort lead questions the same way we handle other problem water: test first, explain the results without scare tactics, and recommend only what your home needs. When families want an extra layer at the kitchen sink, reverse osmosis is often part of that conversation. Family-owned since 1996, CSLB C55 (California’s water conditioning contractor license) #811243.
We do not claim a specific home unit is "certified for lead" by brand name. We can say: NSF-certified for lead reduction options are available, and we will show you what fits after testing.
Where lead usually comes from
Lead in drinking water is most often from internal corrosion of household plumbing: older solder, some fixtures and fittings, especially when water has been sitting in the pipes.
Test first
- Free in-home water test for the basics we check at the tap.
- State-certified lab testing for lead (and copper when it makes sense) when your situation calls for it.
- Clear read of the results, no scare headlines.
- Written, no-pressure estimate for only what you need.
Start here: water testing.
Treatment for drinking water
A water softener is built for hardness, not lead. For drinking and cooking water, families usually look at under-sink reverse osmosis and related filtration options. NSF-certified for lead reduction options are available; we will match the option to your test.
Various setups are available. Your test decides.

Questions
Does city water have lead?
Utilities test under the Lead and Copper Rule. Lead at your tap is often from home plumbing. A lab test at your faucet is how you know.
Does a softener remove lead?
A standard softener is not designed for lead. Drinking-water filtration / RO is the usual conversation.
Are your systems certified for lead?
NSF-certified for lead reduction options are available. We will show certifications that apply to the components or systems we recommend for your home.
Should I replace my pipes?
Sometimes plumbing work is part of the answer; sometimes under-sink (point-of-use) treatment is enough. We do not do full repipes. We will tell you honestly when a plumber should be involved.
